Car repair, car won't start due to dead battery
The car we came across today had a battery that was constantly running out of power and was preventing the car from starting, so we came over to see if we could fix it for her? We got in the car to start the vehicle first to try and unscrew the key door to start the vehicle and the dash lights went out quickly. In cases like this the battery is usually dead, so we looked for a backup power source and let the vehicle start before doing a check. With the cause of the problem found, see this battery symbol light? When this battery symbol light comes on,
it means that the car battery is not charging. Let's take a multimeter and measure its power output, it is only a little over 12 volts,
the normal charging voltage should be over 13 volts. Let's take the generator out and see what's going on. Let's take the generator apart and see what's wrong inside? In fact, this generator is very simple, the rotor rotates and cuts the magnetic lines to produce alternating current, then after the rectifier, the alternating current is converted into direct current, and finally the total to the car appliances. Only this slip ring is particularly dirty and the groove is particularly deep,
which will lead to poor contact between the slip ring and the carbon brush,
and eventually lead to the generator not generating electricity. If you go to a garage, you will definitely be asked to replace the whole generator, which should cost a few hundred dollars, so let's try and fix it. We used fine sandpaper to polish this piece of paper and smooth out the grooves on it so that the carbon brushes and slip ring can make good contact.
Now that it's polished, try it on. Start the car and see that the battery symbol on the instrument light is gone,
which means that the car battery is now charging, let's measure the power generation, 13 volts or so,
well, the problem is solved, isn't it easy? Learn about car repair every day and repair your car yourself!
